on time god
With technology, everything moves so fast. You can instantly get any information you need within seconds at your fingertips. TikTok, Reels, and just social media in general have created a sense of urgency in us all. It's easy to get caught up in the rush. We're bombarded with messages that tell us we need to achieve more, do more, and be more, all on our own timetable. But as Christians, we're called to live on God’s timetable. To have trust, patience, and surrender to God's perfect timing.
The Bible is filled with reminders of God's faithfulness and his perfect timing. To be quite honest, there isn’t a story in the Bible that doesn’t show His remarkable timing. Ecclesiastes 3:1 says,
"For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven."
God has a purpose and a plan for every season of our lives, and that includes the timing of events. That may mean a season of unknowns or a season of frustrations, but living life on God's time means surrendering our own agendas and trusting that God knows what's best for us. It means letting go of our need to control every aspect of our lives and instead, trusting our future to the one who created it to begin with.
One of the greatest examples of trusting in God's timing is the story of Abraham and Sarah. Despite their old age and inability to have children, God promised them a child. But years went by without the fulfillment of that promise, and doubt began to creep into their hearts. Yet, in the fullness of time, just as God had promised, Sarah had a son, Isaac.
“Now the Lord was gracious to Sarah as he had said, and the Lord did for Sarah what he had promised. Sarah became pregnant and bore a son to Abraham in his old age, at the very time God had promised him.”
Genesis 21:1-2
Even when our circumstances seem impossible, God is always faithful to fulfill his promises in His perfect timing!!
The story of Joseph is another beautiful illustration of God’s timing. Despite being sold into slavery and facing numerous trials, Joseph remained faithful to God. Eventually, God put Joseph into a position of great authority in Egypt. This position of authority put him in a position where he was able to save his family and countless others from famine. Joseph recognized God's hand in every twist and turn of his life.
You may not always understand why things happen the way they do or why prayers seem to go unanswered. But you can take comfort in knowing that God is always working behind the scenes, orchestrating events according to his perfect plan.
Living life on God's time means embracing the present moment and finding joy in the present. In a culture that values busyness and productivity, it can be tempting to measure our worth by our accomplishments and achievements. But as followers of Christ, we're called to a different standard. We're called to fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, and to trust that he is leading us on the path of righteousness (Hebrews 12:2).
So, I encourage you to release the need to rush through life and instead, learn to live in the presence of God's grace. Trust in his perfect timing, knowing that he is always working for our good and his glory. Life isn’t a race to be won, but a journey to be enjoyed—one step at a time, in the presence of our loving and faithful God.
